EPR-TECHNOLOGIES, INC., utilizes the revolutionary emergency resuscitation capabilities developed by the Safar Center over the past two decades to form the basis of the technology and "know-how" for a product line to support novel, advanced, lifesaving, emergency medical procedures.
The Safar Center has pursued and perfected the experimental use of rapid aortic cold flush to induce profound-to-ultraprofound hypothermia to cool the brain, heart and other vital organs as quickly as possible. This rapid cooling can maintain a constant level of hypothermia for a period up to 3 hours.
The successful use of profound-to-ultraprofound hypothermia will permit the stabilization of unrecoverable patients and allow time for critical surgical/medical interventions and repairs under protected cardiac arrest. Following emergency repairs, delayed resuscitation is carried out using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).
